1. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Like excellent wine, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is getting better with age. It's still one of the most astounding open-world games ever made, combining Skyrim's unabashed scale with Grand Theft Auto V's tremendous depth, even after all these years. Because it's so crammed with content, it takes the top spot on our list of the best PC games for 2021. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt isn't just the best PC game of 2021 or among the finest open-world games on PC; it's also stunning, gorgeous, and an utter time suck — in a good way. It has the potential to be one of the best video games ever made.
2. Ghostrunner
In this post-apocalyptic dystopian game, ultraviolence and relentless action collide. This FPP is not for the faint of heart — it's tense, intense, and you'll most likely die trying to beat it over and over again. If you've ever desired a game that's equal parts Doom Eternal and Mirror's Edge, Ghostrunner is the game for you.
The game takes place in Dharma Tower, a sort of the last stronghold for humanity, where you must ascend the tower using platforming and katana-induced carnage to exact vengeance on a brutal dictator. You accomplish so by slicing up your foes, dodging shots, and employing a variety of unique powers to keep climbing the ranks. This is the type of game that will make you gasp for air just by playing it. And if that seems like your cup of tea, you're in for a real treat.
3. Control
Control has grabbed the gaming world by storm, and it's easy to see why. Remedy Entertainment's creative team made sure to include plenty of things to enjoy in this game, paying great attention to the smallest details. This action-adventure game is a truly cinematic experience, with stunning visuals, inventive environment design, and superb acting — not to mention a truly rewarding combat experience.
Control puts you in the skilled hands of Jesse Faden, a fiery-haired assassin. You've been tasked with locating your missing brother and locating The Oldest House, a building in New York City that's in a constant state of architectural flux and only appears to those who seek it out, all while leading the Federal Bureau of Control and overseeing the containment of para natural entities.
Control is unlike anything else on the market, making it one of the best PC games available right now.
4. World of Warcraft: Shadowlands
This side of Cyberpunk 2077, World of Warcraft: Shadowlands may be the fastest-selling game. But it's also a shot in the arm for one of the most long-running MMOs. Although World of Warcraft has been around for 16 years, the new installment introduces not only a new tale but also a reworked leveling system, access to a new class, and, of course, new locations, dungeons, and raids to explore and participate in.
Shadowlands is a World of Warcraft expansion set in the Land of the Dead, with five major zones and a central hub city to explore. There's plenty of fresh stuff to keep you interested, whether you choose to play with friends or tackle the plot on your own. Though the expansion includes several new features, such as more character customizations and a new drop zone called "Exile's Reach" where new players can level up, the game remains true to its RPG and MMO roots, providing you with the same fantasy-laden vast world to explore and kill monsters in that has kept the game alive for 16 years.
5. Hitman 3
Hitman 3 brings the rebooted trilogy to a close with another stunning entry that stays true to what makes these games so special. It doesn't reinvent the gameplay, but it does add six new maps and completes the tale begun in Hitman in 2016. Hitman 3's maps will take you all over the world, from Dubai and England to China and beyond, much like the previous games.
You're in for a treat if you're not familiar with the series' gameplay. You play as Agent 47, a quiet and calculated hitman whose duty isn't to run and gun through a horde of evil guys like other games would have you do. Instead, you roam around enormous maps like an English manor, discreetly and unseen, to identify and eliminate your targets. Furthermore, you can play the same map numerous times to discover a variety of techniques or story pathways to eliminate your targets, providing this entry, as well as the previous ones, the kind of replayability that is uncommon in games.
6. Monster Hunter World
For years, Monster Hunter has been one of the most popular video game franchises you've probably never heard of. Monster Hunter: World brought the series into the mainstream and to the PC (much to the relief of many gamers), and it's currently one of the best PC games available.
Monster Hunter: World puts you in the role of a monster hunter, and you'll be tasked with hunting down increasingly larger and more dangerous monsters, stripping them of their parts, and crafting bigger, worse armor. It's a deceptively simple gameplay loop that turns into one of the most engaging and rewarding PC games available right now.
This game is bursting at the seams with material, and Capcom, the game's creators, is committed to providing a slew of free DLC — as well as a new frigid expansion in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. Monster Hunter: World is the PC game of your dreams if you're searching for an addicting, engrossing, and most importantly, fun game to play on your own or together with all of your best friends. It is without a doubt one of the best PC games available today.
7. Death Stranding
If the name Norman Reedus drew your eye when Death Stranding was announced, then you're in for a treat. This game, however, is attracting a lot of attention for reasons other than the famous personalities associated with it, who include Mads Mikkelsen and Léa Seydoux. As porter Sam Bridges, you heroically traverse the apocalyptic United States, navigating territories overtaken by terrorists, robbers, and strange invisible creatures known as Beached Things to deliver precious cargo. This award-winning action game is also a feast for the senses, thanks to its fantastic storyline, which may be suggestive of the present pandemic, excellent gameplay, entertaining quests, and stunning sound and images.
8. Red Dead Redemption 2
Rockstar Games' newest game was an instant hit upon its initial release. Red Dead Redemption 2 is an intriguing western that follows Arthur Morgan and his crew as they fight to survive as outlaws on the run in a romanticized Wild West. The game, however, is much more than that.
RDR2 is one of those games where you can easily sink 50+ hours into and still have something to do, whether it's getting lost in the story, completing every side quest, or simply bonding with your horse. The graphics are breathtaking, and the gameplay is incredible. If you have the necessary gear, you can even play the game at 8K. Take a look at this if you haven't already.
9. Half-Life: Alyx
No game has had as much or as long of a wait as Half-Life 3. As a result, while players will have to wait a bit longer for it, Valve has blessed us with what may be the most compelling incentive to acquire a VR headset: Half-Life: Alyx.
Half-Life: Alyx occurs five years before Half-Life 2... An effort to steal a superweapon from the alien overlords evolved from a rescue operation for the protagonist's father. This prequel is a pleasant return to the Half-Life world, which has been unanimously applauded for its brilliance, thanks to interactive puzzles, well-thought-out combat, and a fascinating plot.
If you're searching for a reason to try virtual reality gaming, this could be it. Half-Life: Alyx's meticulous attention to detail demonstrates what may be accomplished with virtual reality when taken seriously.
10. Forza Horizon 4
Microsoft's racing series improves with each edition, and this spin-off has surpassed the main Forza Motorsport line as the greatest racing game on PC right now in many aspects. They're a lot more entertaining, with a splash of arcade excitement mixed in with the stunningly detailed cars and race tracks we've come to anticipate from Forza.
Forza Horizon 4 is certainly one of the best PC games available today, and this installment brings the racing to the United Kingdom after earlier installments visited America, France, Italy, and Australia. By way of several miles of country roads and dirt tracks in between, you can now rip through picturesque villages, seaside towns, and the capital of Edinburgh. It's hectic, fast-paced, and a lot of fun.
Forza Horizon 4 is available for purchase on the Microsoft Store. It's also included in the Xbox Game Pass for PC, or you can buy the Xbox One version and use the Xbox Anywhere function to receive a download ticket for PC.
